On October 6, US-based AMC Entertainment Holdings declared to accept online payments in Dogecoin for buying AMC theatre digital gift cards.
Adam Aron, CEO addressed Dogecoin users on October 6 in a tweet mentioning the good news that will enable them to purchase digital gift cards with Dogecoins and other cryptos up to $200 daily using BitPay wallet.
The payment will be accepted in mobile apps, websites and in AMC theatres. For purchasing a gift card, users have to use the Bitpay Wallet and install a Bitpay browser extension.
On 16th September, the biggest movie exhibition firm had declared about accepting payments in cryptos namely Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum.
Aron said that the firm will come with ideas to utilize Dogecoin and the 4 cryptos accepted previously for payment in AMC by the end of 2021.
However, Aron’s tweet also confirmed that it would start accepting more cryptos for payments by the end of this year.
He, in the same tweet, also said that AMC would have the necessary technology to use Apple Pay and Google Pay for online ticketing alternatives as well by the end of 2021.
The Dogecoin community accepted the decision calling it a big stance. On 21st September, an online poll was conducted by Aron to reach the decision of accepting Doge as a payment alternative besides the previously approved cryptocurrency.
