Meta trademark anticipates for cryptocurrency payments platform

Meta, social media giant Facebook’s parent company, is hinting to launch a payments platform with support for crypto. As per records, Meta filed 5 applications for its namesake to be utilized in a platform named Meta Pay. The filings included Meta’s name for use in an ‘online social networking service for investors enabling financial exchange and trades of virtual currency, digital currency, cryptocurrency, blockchain and digital assets, digital tokens, digitized assets, utility tokens, and crypto tokens.’

Meta, in March, filed 8 trademark applications with the USPTO associated with the blockchain technology and Metaverse. On May 9, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the company had started testing digital collectibles on Instagram, indicating a step toward adding NFTs or non-fungible tokens. Lately, Meta controls many major applications such as Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, and Facebook.
